All you need to know about parenting
Parenting is a very beautiful and happy experience almost everyone will one day feel. You must first be a parent before the job of parenting. Now, that brings me to the question, what is parenting? It is simply playing the role of a guardian or adviser to your child or ward whether biological or adopted.
All you need to know about parenting. Parenting is such a lovely experience so many anticipate at one point or another in their life but it is so unfortunate that many fail at this, they are not able to cope, or meet up to expectation of taking care of their child, teaching and guiding them on the right path to take thereby raising lawless, abusive, arrogant, proud, selfish and ill mannered children who in turn affects their society negatively as a result have a bad society. There is an African adage that says “a good home gives birth to a good and healthy society” that is true because so many bad guys we have out there today came from one home or the other. Assuming they have proper parenting the reverse will surly be the case. So it is very important to have proper parenting for the up coming generation which in turn gives rise to bright and well mannered leaders of tomorrow who will turn things around for good and affect their generation positively.
Proper parenting requires the following:
- Be an example. Children learn faster with what they see than what they hear. To be a great parent, you must make sure to illustrate in your actions what you tell your children, let your action speak to them more than your words does. For example, you can not be great at teaching your child to be clean whereas you are dirty, always looking unkept. Ignorantly you are teaching that child that dirtiness is better than cleanliness
- Discipline your child. Have you head of the adage that says “spare the rod and spoil the child” well, children must act like one , their mental capacity is not very developed like that of an adult, they can hardly differentiate between good or bad. It is now your duty as a parent to discipline and correct them when necessary, do not ever assume that they are still young and can not differentiate between right or wrong. The irony of it is that when they grow, they tend to believe the misconception that right is wrong and wrong is right. It is easier to instill a behavior or character when he or she is young than when grown up. There is a saying that says train up a child in a way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.
- Be your child support system both financially, spiritually, academically, morally and other wise. To be great at parenting , your child should be assured of your support always for that will always be a backbone to them. You may not know this but when a child is sure of these support from a parent, more than seventy percent of that Child’s problem is solved, he or she will feel some level of security. It is so sad seeing so many homeless children out in the streets with no food or education, it tends to have a negative impact on these children, they will have nothing to live for. To be great at parenting is to give your child some level of financial, spiritual, academic and moral security for by so doing, you are only giving them reasons to live for but far more reasons to be a better person as well and touch lives positively.
